On August 1st we harvested two supers from one of our hives. It was a long day, but with the help of my husband and nephew it was a very productive day. This was my nephews first time helping us, so his job was working the extractor. My husband was in charge of uncapping the frames. I think he just enjoyed using the hot knife. My job was easy this time. It consisted of scraping the wax from the empty frames, filling the jars with honey and everyone’s favorite, clean up. When it was all said and done this years harvest was pretty good. Final count was forty-eight 8oz bottles, twenty-four 4 oz bottles and 1 1/2 lbs. of wax. I’m looking forward to making more lip balm but I’m also going to try my hand with some mustash wax.
