Using Jekyll to drive an e-commerce website

Recently I built an e-commerce website using the static site builder Jekyll. This is a quick over-view of what I did. This being my first attempt at a Jekyll driven e-commerce website there were some issues to overcome. I hope this post, and video, will be helpful to anyone doing this for the first time. I’m sure I made mistakes, and if I was to build a second site, there are things I would do differently.

Locking out clients is a bad idea

As a developer I feel it is morally (and legally) wrong to withhold information about a clients website or hosting. Why some developers take their anger or frustration out on their clients is beyond me. I fully understand how difficult some clients can be, but nothing they can do should make you abandon your own professionalism.

Locating the Flasher Module on a 2000 Ford F150.

Do I use my blinker too much? I don’t think I do. But then, much like being an asshole, or truly crazy, self realization can be tricky. Asshole or not, I have had to replace the flasher module on both my Skoolie, as well as my 2000 Ford F150 pickup within the past 30 days.

I get asked all the time to be the arbiter of technology. People get overwhelmed with the volume of choices out there. And while choice and variety is good, it can sometimes be too much. After all, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
